Through eight games, Shane Lechler is averaging 52.3 yards per punt, nearly a full yard ahead of Sammy Baugh and better than his own personal best of 49.1 yards in 2007.
"It's just clicking right now. It's kind of like when a batter gets into a groove. Everything just seems to be on right now, and I don't know why," Lechler said.
Baugh's record 51.4-yard punting average has stood for 60 years.
